Purple Haze all in my brain,
lately things don’t seem the same,
actin’ funny but I don’t know why
‘scuse me while I kiss the sky.
On the Way in a roundabout way from the train station to Seville Cathedral in 2006 we happened (as we do in our unplanned way) on La Noria (Ferris Wheel) in Prado de San Sebastian, the whole of which was enveloped in a purple haze of Jacaranda blossom.
Amazing..no wonder poets write about Jacaranda.

I don’t suppose it was Jacaranda that Jimi H had in mind, do you?

You are excused. 🙂 This reminds me of the time I landed in LA and during the ride to my host’s home we listened to Howard Stern and he was asking listeners if Jimi really had to say “Excuse me” each time he wished to kiss the sky. 😀

If you rush down to Norwich there is a great big Jacaranda in bloom next to the cathedral.

There is also a refectory cafe and wonderful cloisters crying out to be photographed.

Sounds fabulous! Thanks for the tip 🙂 I won’t be on my own schedule as a pre-BBQ stroll in the city is all that is planned, but I can try 🙂

Gorgeous photos, Carol. Those Jacarandas remind me of the last street we lived in in Johannesburg. It always looked so pretty when the trees were in bloom, and even when they dropped, the ground was covered in purple flowers which made popping noises underfoot. 🙂

That sounds wonderful. Children must have loved the popping blossoms.

creative take on the wpc – and the lyrical flow was so nice with the blooms – oh and my favorite shot is that first one – from the reader – there was something about it that made my eyes adjust and then settle in – the color with the clouds – and the framing – cool up view

I wrote some text and was pondering on a title when I thought of purple haze so just went with the Jimmy Hendrix lyrics. So glad you liked it!

There’s something to be said for planting long avenues of a flowering tree. I’m used to pink cherry trees or white dogwood trees used this way, but the purple Jacaranda blooms are very eye-catching.

Aren’t they just? And we had a splendid view at height. Are your cherry and dogwood avenues nearby in SC or did you come across them in your travels?
