The colors in the south are so much fun…Carolina Beach/Kure Beach has a row of multi-colored houses that are so much fun. Just being near those colors makes me happy!!
The cycling portion is completely organized. All flights and hotels booked for the rest. Now just have to look at train schedules between spots and things we might like to do. So pretty well I think. Thanks for asking. π
Those colorful little cottages are so appealing — love your summer- lovin’ photos! We’ve not been to the Outer Banks but it’s been on our list for a long time. I saw your comment about no bugs in September/October, so that’s when we’ll go.
These are great pix! Cottages just so cute I can’t stand it and that sunset is art! I too got some good shots in OBX but mostly from up on the dunes while my men were hang gliding. Did you take your adventurous self into the hang gliding or are you only adventurous on the ground?
I just don’t know exactly where they were Mona Lisa. According to a Google Images search they are near Hatteras. I looked at the photos either side of the cottages in my NC folder to try to pinpoint them but there were just beaches and more beaches! When our furniture arrives I’ll check my old diaries and see where were camped. That might help. Can you take a photo and go back and look for them?
Ha ha ha you are so funny Carol. Is it because it will take you an Atlantic flight back to NC that you are asking me to drive back ? You are so hilarious, its just too bad you are now across the pond and the chance of meeting is rather slim π¦
If I go with the song “Summer loving” from Grease then it should say two things …. one from the mans side and one from the women’s side…. I love your photos though, yet see they are from home…. what?? not having summer there where you are..??
Actually summer is lovely here but I was too idle to download the pics from my camera for this post. I’ve got some photos of kids playing at the beach while we waited for the airshow to start today. Another post?
Fabulous! Haven’t been to the Outer Banks in years, but these pics make me want to go back. We stayed in an absolute shack the last time and still had a blast. But I’d love to stay in one of those cute, colorful places in your first photo!
Really well, thanks, Jude. Having a little trouble adjusting from 4% humidity to 74%! But the weather is being kind to us, we’re seeing lots of friends and family, I’m enjoying my new car, getting used to driving on ‘the other side’ again and driving a manual. Look out, Suffolk!
We’re still debating where to look for a house but have two weddings, a house rental, truck shipment and furniture shipment to worry about for the time being.
Where are you looking to settle?
If it weren’t for humidity and mosquitoes, the Outer Banks would be rocking! Still, wherever we are, we manage to appreciate summer holiday(s). Here’s to your enjoying!
We didn’t encounter either when we were there in September/October ’09. 2009? Oh my! Was it that long ago? Anyway, himself is a mosquito magnet so we always know when they are about! We loved the Outer Banks. Thanks for the comment Eric.
Awesome photos, especially the cottages. Oh, and the selfies π

I just hope the bugs don’t change their holiday plans. I wouldn’t want to be responsible for you getting good bitten.

Can’t say that anything that involves launching myself from a height appeals to me. Except zip lining. Somewhere exotic. Where do you suggest?

Afraid I don’t get that adventurous ever! Mustique supposed to be very nice…..perhaps you should start a business there, huh?
