Frothy, floaty, silky deliciousness. Îles flottantes. Floating islands. Mounds of lighter-than-air meringue, drizzled with caramel, floating on a sea of custard. Could you resist?
“Dont’ touch it! I want to take a picture.” Himself’s hands retreated slightly.
“Move your hands. They’re in the frame.” Click. And the hands moved back to the dessert.
“Wait! I want to take one more.”

The Ephemeral nature of a yummy dessert is this week’s entry for the photo challenge. Short-lived is one definition of ephemeral. I dispute that. Those French desserts (and dinners and croissants and wine and cheese and baguettes and . . . . ) are still making themselves known around my waistline.

Better late than never, eh? Life seems to be getting in the way of blogging. What’s up with that?
This is absolutely one of my favorite desserts!

I wire wrap rocks found here in AZ. My sweet, sweet man tumbles them and then I wire wrap them. They make beautiful pendants! I also make stretch bracelets. Thank You for asking.

Sounds wonderful. I had a go at wire wrapping rocks and made a bit of a mess of it. I’ve seen them beautifully done. I expect yours are.

The desserts were delectable. It was hard not to dive straight in. Well he didn’t wait, did he?

I won’t blame him. I would have done the same 😛

I did so the same! The next night I had the most amazing dessert. It was gone before I even thought about my camera. Now I don’t even remember what it was. 😕

That is a lovely dessert! I definitely noticed that the cookie had disappeared. Eric would have also eaten the cookie, as well as taken a big scoop out of the dessert. He is so blasted impatient when I’m trying to take food photos! Imagine that!

Imagine that! It’s quite possible that there is a big scoop missing out of the back of the dessert. He didn’t give me much time!

That got me thinking and I double-checked the second photo. The spoon is resting on the plate of the far dessert. He did take a bite!

Oh, that looks so yummy, Carol. But you should see the cakes they produce here in North Cyprus – brilliant and dirt cheap too. Tests my resolve a bit but I never bother buying as Bryan doesn’t eat sweet stuff and while I would like some of the cake, I couldn’t eat all of it and it would break my heart to bin it! btw, my domain name went weird last week, my blog’s now at: http://crazycronecapers.com. C’est la vie, I suppose, but I’ve been tearing my hair out!

I can understand your reluctance to buy cakes Mo when it’s up to you to eat it all! I have a cake eater the house – fewer calories for me!

Lucky you, Carol, you’d both be in your element here with the sweet stuff they dish up.

Ile flottante was one of my father-in-law’s favourite desserts. Yummy! Hope you’re well, cupcake. Work’s getting in the way of blogging for me, hope I’ll be surfacing for a blogging greater soon…

You ARE a good girl. What next? 200 days? I didn’t feel any better after dry January so I didn’t see the point. Several million Frenchmen can’t be wrong. 😃 But good for you. Willpower! Or is that girl power?

I’m very pleased for you. I didn’t have those excellent results. Perhaps I should go for the 100 days instead of the mere 31 days. My muffin top thinks I should.

I reckon that if you still missed it after 31 days, then you should embrace that glass of rosé with no regrets 🙂

Quick, quick, it’s melting! And yes I did notice that someone pinched the whatjamacallit on the top. Not me! I wasn’t quick enough.

They are called ‘cigarette russe’ and are himself’s favourite – his excuse for nicking it. You’ll need to be quicker next time.

They were scrumptious. If I close my eyes and imagine it I can feel the meringue fizzing on my tongue as it collapses to nothing. I can also remember laying awake thinking, ‘I wish I hadn’t eaten so much!’
