This is what walls are for!

Flowers, flowers and more flowers! I was happy, happy, happy!

Festival of the Patios, Cordoba, Spain, 2006

Tantalizing glimpses through wrought iron gates of bountiful patios are all one gets throughout the year until May, when private patios – central open-air ‘rooms’ in houses – are opened to the public.

Originally plants and water features were a way of keeping the patios cool in the hot dry summers but in 1918 Códoba City Hall began sponsoring the patio contests. As you can see the residents go all out.

How would you like a whole wall of flowers?

  1. Wow, that is a lot of flowers! Beautiful, but think about all the work it would be to water them all! 🙂

Deberías volver a visitarla, te va a encantar pasearla.
    Saludos.

      1. I love that perhaps return to Cordoba again, enjoy much of the city . Visit other cities ? Andalusia is great. A few days ago we have been in Almunécar , a town of Granada , and have been a few pleasant days.
I am also using the translator, at least we can understand and that’s great.
        A greeting.

    1. Thank you so much. I have been through dozens of ‘wall’ posts just to find you! I am in France at the moment looking at my teeny phone screen. I have made a note to look again at your posts on my laptop when I get home so I can see them properly. 😀

          1. It’s almost 10 years ago, certainly withered flowers;)
What is the chance that I would probably have to again visit the Spaniards

      1. I did – with hanging baskets and plants that like to climb the walls. There was hardly a brick to be seen! I have just been back to look at some photos and think I will do a post about our lovely walled garden! 🙂

  3. That is an eyeful (in a good way, though). I can’t imagine the work that goes into maintaining the beautiful flowers. Thank goodness I am not part of that community as I do not have green fingers 🙂

  6. I used to have three hanging pots of petunias on my front porch (back when I had a porch), but that was more than enough watering for the likes of me. They sure were pretty though.

  7. One of my favorite things is to get a peek into other people’s gardens. Needless to say, I love garden tours. But I’ve never seen anything quite like those walls of potted flowers — they’re so vibrant and fun!
