This is the Place to Live!

Editors’s (that would be moi) note: Oh my. Look what I’ve done. In my frustration with the WordPress App and using my new smartphone I have published the same thing twice! I won’t delete one as some of you lovely people have “liked” one and some of you have stumbled on the other one! Oh bother.

This was a smartphone practice post for our upcoming road trip through Europe. More practice needed. Or a tablet. Or the laptop on my laptop while himself argues with the new SatNav. I’m so looking forward to it all.

This message is coming to you from the cozy familiar space of my laptop and will be repeated on the other post. LOL LOL!

  1. I am trying to catch up on your where abouts. I have been offline as I have been traveling in the midwest. I once again am so happy seeing your incredible photos. Safe travels!

  2. Well,as you posted it twice, I thought I’d better like it twice. 🙂 Free Wi-Fi is almost unheard of here in South Africa. I’m having to use cellular internet since we moved out of our house, and it’s much more expensive that the ADSL we had there. 😦 A road trip through Europe sounds really exciting. 🙂

    1. We’re using cellular internet – one phone on wifi, the other has to be tethered for some reason. Then there is the non secure campsite wifi, and we have a “dongle” they call it here – a USB plug-in – for secure wifi before we got the phones! My head hurts.

    1. Misery loves company! Thanks for that. The next time I try posting from the WP app I’ll be sitting beside the laptop so I can correct any dumb mistakes immediately. I was miles away from home in the car when I realized I’d published twice. Hmmm. Can one unpublish?

  3. Good luck with your postings on your upcoming trip! I once blogged in Barcelona ( nice ring to that!) about the frustration of blogging on a tablet. Looking forward to your posts…and maybe free beer although I’d prefer free wifi…

    1. Thanks for that. I’ll certainly need it. I had more luck posting on Facebook from my phone. The WordPress app baffles me. I may just take a notebook and take lots of photos. Sort it all out when I get back!

  4. I completely understand how you might post twice — done it myself, actually. 🙂 My only dilemma was trying to figure out where to reply — too many choices. I can’t wait for the road trip through Europe!!

  5. Love the sign and that is worth showing twice.
I blogged in Europe last year on my iPad and that almost drove me bonkers. I’ve bought a wee laptop for our upcoming trip in the fall so as not to have an eyeball pop out of my head. 🙂

    1. Ah. Glad you warned me. As we are driving to Italy, I’ve debated taking the laptop and using the phone as a mobile hot spot. As I’m doing now. I was blogging and emailing on the phone in the car yesterday. You can see that didn’t go well! It’s not just the using a relatively teeny phone and constantly losing the signal but I can’t seem to get on with the WP app. Or is it operator error?

      1. In my travels I have found the WP app definitely wants a strong signal. The way I found that worked best Carol was to write the post outside of WP just on Word or Notepad. When I had the narrative done I would try to get on line with WP and copy and paste the narrative in and load the photos. Trying to write in the WP app has never worked for me. In that way you just need the internet for a moment rather than a constant signal. Hope that helps.

        1. Thanks, Sue. I’ve been putting off trying it as I was afraid it would go horribly wrong. I guess in the car speeding along the highway wasn’t the best place for a first attempt at blogging on a phone. I also think I’ve been doing it back to front – bringing up the photo and hitting the share button. I’ll try going into the app and adding media. What fun!

              1. I was computer illiterate for many years. This past year if blogging my brain has been smoking it’s working so hard. It all comes with time, patience, practice and a lot of Googling. 🙂

        2. I have had a very hard time on the Word Press App. I have a iphone… and I think WordPress needs to iron out some kinks/bugs. I have been offline so was trying to do posts from my phone… not an easy task. Just sayin’!
