Can’t resist a photo challenge!
Today’s challenge ZIGZAG comes to you courtesy of Florida.
My favourite (publishing from England now, must use English spelling) boardwalk in the whole wide world (what little I know of it) , a zigzag path at Destin:
Zigzag ripples left in the sand by the retreating tide at Destin:
Zigzag reflections in the Withlacoochee River (cool name, kind of makes your tongue zigzag when you say it) taken during an airboat ride:
I love those zigzagging reflections and the ripples in the sand 🙂 I get so annoyed when the wordpress editor points out spelling mistakes when I write “colour” or “favourite”!

It is annoying isn’t it? It’s what they do! My laptop came from the States so my spellcheck default is U.S. English. You’ve just reminded me. I can change that! Unfortunately we can’t change WP. 😦

Absolutely love those Florida boardwalks, Carol. Great photos for the challenge, and thanks for reminding me what I’m going back to. 😀 xx

I especially love the boardwalk (yes, those boardwalks on the Florida panhandle beaches are gorgeous!) and the tide pattern in the sand — just wonderful. As a native Floridian (although I moved away 30 years ago) it makes me happy when people discover and appreciate the beauty of north Florida. We spent a lovely 4 months there this past winter.

Three comments in a row and three different favourites. Interesting! Do you miss living in Florida, Laurel, or are winter visits enough?

That’s a very good question. My family is still there, and I’ve loved spending several months there the past two winters. I have a renewed appreciation for Florida — especially the Panhandle and “Old Florida.” And there’s definitely something to be said for Southern hospitality. But I wouldn’t be happy with the heat and humidity of the summers. (And quite honestly, I feel much more at home in the liberal political climate of the Pacific Northwest.)

I wholehearted agreed with you about the political climate of the NW. Not too keen on their actual climate, Laurel!

Some really neat shots – my favourite (Canadian spelling!) is the sand.

Is it the colour? (English spelling!) 🙂

Love all three shots, but the reflection of the crooked trees in the water is my favourite!

I am going to try to incorporate “Withlacoochee River” into a conversation sometime soon–just because it seems like it will be SO MUCH FUN to say!!!

Please let me know how that goes! Perhaps you could express a yearning to have a go on Wild Bill’s Airboat Tours on the Withlacoochee.

Love the zigzag sand in Destin. We did two different April’s there. A wonderful time of year to be in the panhandle.

We were there two Januarys – cold but beautiful. No swimming but lots of beach combing!

Thanks, Barb! Lots of disruption in the near future but a quiet weekend for now. Our campsite is manic but the swimming pool is juuuust far enough away!

Gotcha, kids are great but a pool really brings out the screams! A final settling coming soon?

Not soon enough. We probably won’t start looking until Sept/Oct. We should have a house in time for your stopover to Mauritius. lol X

I adore boardwalks – we don’t have too many of those in the UK. Now why didn’t I think of that? My favourite photo HAS to be those zigzag ripples in the sand – simply gorgeous ❤

I’m sooo glad you appreciated it! I knew I had that photo and spent half an hour looking for it! Wasn’t sure which beach it was til I found it.

Lovely photos depicting the challenge perfectly. We’re contemplating a trip to Destin this winter but not sure we want to head that far east. We’ll see 🙂

Destin and all the beaches along that coastline are gorgeous. We loved it. They’ve imported sand to our local beach here at Felixstowe. It’s shingle. Not good for sand castles! lol
