Travel Theme: Blossom

Beziers Flower Market, France

Flowers are a necessity, not a luxury. Did I choose our B & B in France because it was close to the Beziers Flower Market? Possibly.

Beziers Flower Market, France

So many lovely blooms. How could I ever make a decision?

My choice:

No, not him! The flowers in his hand!

Beziers Flower Market, France

Bloomin’ big blousy blossoms!

peonies, flowers

peonies, flowers

peonies, flowers

They are peonies by the way. And his name was André. He wasn’t for sale.

Ailsa’s Travel Theme this week is blossom.

  1. I’m not going to say beautiful, in case you think I’m interested in your French Flower Man… But would it not be nice if our cameras could also capture the magnificent aroma that must have accompanied the flowers…

  2. Great peonies, well you know already how much I love peonies, but Andre ain’t bad 😉
As an aside: It’s interesting that Americans translate blossom as any flower, whereas I think we Brits think of blossom specifically being ‘fruit blossom’ like apple, pear and cherry with frothy confetti-like flowers that is gone in an instant when the wind blows. http://wp.me/p3jVw4-K6

  3. Gorgeous peonies, one of my favorite flowers! I agree with you that flowers are a necessity, not a luxury. Wildflowers in the landscape provide most of my flower-fix these days, but I still often bring in a bloom or two for a tiny vase in the trailer.

  4. A necessity? – well said and I couldn’t agree with you more. When we pulled into our boondock site in Moab I couldn’t stop smiling with the blooms visible in all directions. Love flowers and especially wildflowers 🙂

  5. Ahhh… I still remember the days when an André might have been tempting. 🙄
The peonies are scrumptious. They just seem so damned extravagant.

      1. I cut mine because if I don’t, the wind knocks them to the ground – especially the big blousy ones that are too heavy for their stems. Besides I get to see more of them in the house. That’s what I love about Europe, they seem to offer so many more flowers at the markets.

          1. And nowhere near the variety that’s available. Most likely because Americans don’t generally think of buying flowers except for certain rare special occasions and then the flowers tend to be rather expensive. Very different attitude I suspect. Can’t overlook the fact that there’s never an André selling them either! 😀

  6. Oh! All the flower markets in Paris…..how could you ever decide? Perhaps we should write our own book for future trips…we could go around and photograph all the lovely markets with all their lovely…..accessories (accesexories?). Am thinking it would be much easier to pick a place to stay if we knew the full extent of the aMENities!

          1. Ugh….I am working on my prompt for this week and I am SO STUCK. The prompt is A Spider’s Web and I’m trying to tie that into an experience from this weekend. It’s not an easy one! But I am working. Am now hoping for strange mood to go away…..it seems to be hindering me! 🙂 Writing – don’t you love it?

              1. Oh, this is most interesting! I should’ve asked you before! Will have to see what you think of what I came up with this week. I’ll post as usual on Thursday…..I’m going for a more abstract web…..my class writings are supposed to incorporate family history/personal experiences but boy…I could’ve segued off of this picture so easily! Next time, I’m stuck….I’m coming to you first!

                1. Well I don’t know what you got from that! It was getting late and I wasn’t sure the photo would come through on the comment. When it did, I thought you’d think I was a little crazy but that didn’t stop me going to bed anyway! Have a good week and I’ll look for you on Thursday.

            1. He’d probably be laughing his head off if he knew all this banter was going on. I wonder what our age difference is? I’m not going to embarrass myself and hazard a guess! 😕 lol
