White Sands National Monument is part of 275 square miles of white sand dune made of gypsum crystals, the largest dune of its type in the world – just 750 miles from the Pacific ocean!

  1. Gorgeous! You captured so many different moods of miles and miles of white sand. With all of the trips we’ve made to the Southwest, for some reason we’ve never made it to White Sands. We’re headed back that direction in late April/early May…you’ve certainly made it look spectacularly appealing!

      1. Only been to NM once, at the tail end of our Route 66 trip. We veered north to Santa Fe and Taos, but didn’t get to spend enough time there. I’d really like to go back.

  3. I had no idea that there were sand dunes like that in the US. Totally amazing!! It looks gorgeous … although I have to admit I’m a little uncomfortable under a ‘big sky’ like that.
