I’ll Bet You’ve Never Seen This Sign!

When you see this sign of splatter,

You all had better scatter.

The hippo they call Lu,

Flicks his tail to . . . .

Homosassa Springs Wildlife State Park

Make everybody scream!

Lu is in the hippopotamus equivalent of an old people’s home. He will celebrate his 54th birthday this month and hippos generally only live to 30. He was at the park when it was taken over by Florida State Parks and given leave to stay. He even has his own Florida State citizenship!

  1. Wonderful items from you, man. I have bear in mind your stuff
previous to and you’re just extremely great.
I really like what you have acquired here, really like what you’re stating and the best
way through which you assert it. You are making it enjoyable and you continue to take
care of to keep it smart. I can’t wait to read much more from you.
That is actually a great web site. https://vimeo.com/91959529

  2. Hahaha – that sign is hilarious! Trawling through your blog at the moment & loving it. We would love to road trip USA one day… there is just so much to see and do and clearly silly signs to laugh at!!!

    1. I hope you get the opportunity to make that road trip. It is a huge country which you will appreciate coming from Australia. A tiny distance on the road map turns out to be an all day drive. But worth it. Being seasoned travelers you won’t need any tips but the National Parks have been our favorite destinations. Bon voyage!

      1. Well for the short time that we have visited the USA – we too fell in love with the National Parks so would love to road trip and visit the beautiful NP of the country! Here’s to hoping we get there one day 🙂

  3. Lu is a favorite of ours and we took our visiting granddaughter to see him on Christmas Day! If you are still in the Homossasa area and would like to get away from your RV for a bit, let me know and I’ll put the kettle on at our place in Bushnell (just a little inland). I’m always up for a visit from the blogosphere!

    1. What a shame we missed you! We were there the next day. We flew to Tampa/Floral City for Christmas and are back in Arizona now. My blog is a bit mixed up (explanation on sidebar) and some of my Florida pics are from a previous visit. I’m sorry I missed that cup of tea with you!

      1. It is a messy spray of sh..t flying every where… if you have every watched a fertiliser spreader working you can equate this to the hippo… fertiliser going everywhere… quite often when they lift their tails out of the water to let go one will see a flurry of fish going in for the food value… no wonder I don’t eat fish…
