In checking my facts with that irrefutable source – Wikipedia – herons eat a number of aquatic creatures – fish, reptiles, amphibians, crustaceans, molluscs, aquatic insects. I don’t know why I felt the need to bother as most of my poems are nonsense.
I make things up!
But it has given me the chance to use my new word. Mr. Heron had an ichthyic dinner. Compliments of Multifarious Meanderings in One Fish, Two Fish? Dead Fish: Goldfish.
I also happened on this incredible photo. I’ve never seen herons do this. Have you?

Nope never seen one yet but would like to see one day.

We’ll all keep looking. Lots of herons in Florida.

I haven’t seen that either. But I had to look up how to say ichthyic, neat word.

I thought you’d like it! I should have linked it to its definition – fishy! We can add ichthyic to crepuscular and aestivate.

Isn’t it? No one knows why they do that. My theory is that it concentrates their attention on fishing instead of admiring their reflection.
